Nicola Blakey was born in England and grew up in Cambridge. She has lived on the Sunshine Coast, BC. Canada for over 20 years.
Nicola paints when she is inspired by an image or sees something in nature that moves her. she feels she is lucky to live in an amazingly beautiful area with much natural wildlife still intact.
Her original acrylic paintings are faithfully reproduced Giclee prints on Somerset Velvet paper.
Nicola's recent paintings have been of Ravens, mainly because she often sees them and loves to see their antics. At the moment she is working on a bared Owl. One flew into her car last year and she was amazed by the strength in it's wings as it happily flew off. This is a new subjet for her and is a fun challenge. Nicola hopes to get it in her gallery in a month or so.
Nicola has added the Owl which she spoke of plus a WWII topic that is dear to her heart. She hopes you enjoy them as much as she does.
November now! She has sold the original painting of "Snow Raven" but has prints and cards available still.
Happy New Year to all as we enter 2013. she stopped painting as Christmas came along with it's extra work, so she was delighted to begin again on a new raven piece. It is a dusk scene set in the winter, so very different for her. She like the colours that are coming out.
Feb 20th 2012 Just finished her Dusk Raven, need to varnish it, get it printed on nice Somerset Velvet paper with a Giclee printer and Bob's your uncle as we say. Next idea is already set in her mind. It is a Hare silouetted in a green glen. So on we go....
