Based in Ontario, Canada Nadine was drawing horses & cartoon characters from the moment she was old enough to hold a pencil & encouraged from kindergarten age to pursue a career in art. Beyond the basic grade & high school art curriculum, She is entirely self-taught. Post school, full-time work & competitive equestrian with her own & others horses, teaching as a certified Pony Club instructor (10 years), followed by competitive ballroom dancing (8 years) diverted her from art.
A debilitating accident in 2001 Jan. destroyed her lifestyle & ended her career by 2003 Jan. she resumed her art, drawing wildlife & equine portraits, then expanding to acrylic paint & alternately, full-colour pen & ink which she uses like watercolour with stylus & nib & brush. Commissions & special donations ruled in 2005, followed by over a year’s hiatus from art due to a move, ending with a stint in pet portraits in 2007. Since Spring 2008 whilst coping with 5 commissions/special donations & simultaneously battling horrendous website problems to the end of 2010 followed by another move, along with her worsening disability, added more ‘road blocks’.
She is now focusing all of her efforts on producing her own originals under the Wildlife theme title & Equine theme title she created mid-2008. Saddened yet inspired by an Animal Planet episode covering the failed relocation of 4 Canadian Lynx to repopulate an area in Colorado – 3 starved to death amidst plenty (Lynx won’t hunt in strange territory) & the 4th was rescued barely in time. Under each ‘theme’ title, She has created several uniquely titled mini-series to encompass wildlife by similar species & horses by action/breed. Her paintings are so much more than the life force of each subject she's strive so hard to capture...they are an urgent plea for help! My goal – to support the protection of Nature’s wild ones & their wild spaces. To support the dire urgency of revising all that mankind does to live in harmony with Nature, Her habitats & Her children….the lifeblood of this planet. So little time remains before Mother Nature's ability to heal herself is forever lost. The impetus to change that fate must come from every man, woman & child worldwide. To that end, she donates 10% of each work sold to the accredited & best-suited Wildlife or Equine Sanctuary related to each subject painted. She recently started a dedicated relationship to donate 50% of proceeds from ‘Precious Gems…On Wild Wings’ mini-series (Parrots & Birds of Paradise), to aid World Parrot Refuge (www.worldparrotrefuge.org). From a new line of specially created portraits of feline residents passed, starting with founding Bobcat, ‘Windsong’, she is dedicating 65% of proceeds to aid Big Cat Rescue (www.bigcatrescue.com). Nadine's hope is to support their tremendous & desperately needed rescue & conservation efforts both for those magnificent & sentient creatures in captivity & for their wild brethren. To ensure the legacy of Mother Nature's precious bounty & make a better place for all.
Her previous works are available at www.dasonet.org/profile/NadineK . Kindly continue to follow her on www.bgallery.co.uk for current releases. What began as a diversion from the constant pain of her disability is now the path that gives both the courage to fight through each day & sets her free.
Part proceeds of all sales goes to an accredited Wildlife or Equine Sanctuary best-suited to save these magnificent & sentient creatures. Shipping costs, as in Canada, are calculated separately & in addition to all prices shown. She now has a secure PayPal account through which all original paintings & giclee prints can be purchased.
